September is here, and so are our favorite new releases. This week’s list features new music from Lolo Zouaï, CARR, Shawn Mathews and PRIV.
Lolo Zouaï – VVVIP
Lolo Zouaï celebrates her newfound fame in her new song, “VVVIP”. In this playful; pop-rap song, Lolo sings about her independence and not needing a man for anything. “Put my phone on silent, they blowing me up / Status on diamond / I’m flying for fun / I’m my own stylist, I buy what I want / Leave ‘em all crying, I don’t wanna f*ck.” Lolo’s free-spirited attitude shows in her bright vocals and the intricate poppy instrumental and catchy lyrics make this song a banger. Listen to this song on a girls’ night out to send a message that you don’t want to be bothered. Lolo Zouaï’s “VVVIP” is a powerful anthem that’ll stay stuck in our heads.
CARR – Industry Kids
CARR bashes her ex in her new song “Industry Kids”. In this angsty alternative song, CARR disses her ex-partner who thinks they’re too good for her, calling them an industry kid. “All they ever really wanna do is talk sh*t / Never had to work a day, industry kids / it’s not my fault / You’re rotten.” CARR’s vocals features a twinge of annoyance while keeping her cool, and the guitar-heavy instrumental and cutthroat lyrics make this song a hit. Listen to this song in the car on full blast or in your room with headphones while you think of people who remind you of pretentious industry kids. CARR’s “Industry Kids” calls out the stuck-up environment of LA.
Shawn Mathews – Good Time
Shawn Mathews falls in love with life in his new song, “Good Time”. In this positive hyper-pop song, Shawn sings about living his life to the fullest; and appreciating everything it brings. “I’ve been outside, feeling fine, I don’t wanna talk / Living my life, don’t wanna die, now I see it all / Trips to LA, ride away, now I feel it all / Couldn’t feel at all / Now I feel it all.” Shawn’s raspy, powerful vocals are refreshing; the bass boosted, fast-paced instrumental makes this song a thrill to listen to. Play this song while you’re on a road trip or when you feel empowered for the ultimate adrenaline rush. Shawn Mathews’ “Good Time” is full of good vibes.
PRIV – libra
PRIV breaks off a dangerous relationship in his new song, “libra”. In this emotional hyper-pop song, PRIV listens to his intuition and ends things with his partner. “Heard it through the grapevine / You’re a walking landmine, and I’m never stepping on it again / Sick of wasting my time / Wish that I could rewind / I will never ever see you again.” PRIV’s passionate vocals combined with the detailed electronic instrumental and intense lyrics make this song enticing. Play this song on a gloomy day when you’re thinking about putting a detrimental relationship behind you. PRIV’s “libra” is relatable, and we’ll keep it on repeat.
